The BASI Pilates® Foundation Apparatus Program gives students a thorough knowledge of Pilates mat as well as a solid foundation in the Pilates Method on the various Pilates apparatus. The Foundation Apparatus Program is also a prerequisite for BASI’s renowned Comprehensive Apparatus Program.
The Foundation Apparatus Program is modular and is comprised of 36 hours of lecture and practical work divided into six study modules. The program is generally held over a five-week period.
The process of becoming a skilled teacher is highly individualized and BASI encourages each individual to work at his or her own pace. The goal is to develop excellence in each and every person, no matter how long it takes. Students are allowed to repeat any element of the examination process to achieve the required BASI Pilates standard. Additional fees may apply.
Students who complete the Foundation Apparatus Program may request a letter of attendance for the study of the Foundation Apparatus Principles. Students have the option to test for a BASI Pilates Mat teaching credential, qualifying them as a teacher of BASI Pilates Mat® (please see Mat requirements) or continue in the Comprehensive Apparatus Program.
Those attending the Foundation Apparatus Program will be issued a Study Guide and six Movement Analysis Workbooks (MAWBs) to guide them through the exercises on the various Pilates apparatus.
Students may make up missed modules at any BASI Pilates Host location around the world. Returning students can also Audit any of the six modules to refresh the BASI repertoire and theory. Find the Foundation Program closest to you. *Dance Specialization is not eligible for Auditing.
The Foundation Apparatus Program is taught by excellent members of the BASI Pilates faculty in Host studios around the world. Programs are ongoing in multiple locations throughout the year. Find the Foundation Program closest to you.
